Two people were injured Wednesday night during a small explosion at a factory in southwest suburban Bedford Park.
The explosion happened about 9:30 p.m. at a metal work manufacturing facility on the 7300 block of Narragansett Avenue, Bedford Park Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Clohessy said.
The explosion happened because an electrical transformer blew out, Bedford Park police said.
A Web listing and a company Web site indicates Archer Wire International Corp. is located at that address.
A person from the business notified officials about the electrical incident, Clohessy said. One person was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood and the other was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Clohessy said. Conditions of the victims were not immediately known.
The building was not evacuated, police said. The facility sustained “very little damage,” because of the explosion, Clohessy said.
