Five people were hurt in a two-car head-on crash on the Southwest Side this morning.

The crash happened near 35th Street and Kedzie Avenue about 9:30 a.m., Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford said. Early information that the crash involved a bus was incorrect, Langford said.

Four of the people sent to hospitals were in serious-to-critical condition and one in fair-to-serious condition, Fire Department spokesman Quention Curtis said.

Two of the seriously injured crash victims and the less seriously injured one were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital. The other two seriously injured people were transported to Stroger Hospital, Curtis said. Six ambulances were sent to the scene.
