Four people were injured -- three critically -- in a multi-vehicle crash where a car hit a building Friday evening in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood.

The three-car accident happened about 7:30 p.m. at South Hoyne Avenue and West 63rd Street, police News Affairs Hector Alfaro said.

One of the vehicles struck a building, causing structural damage, Alfaro said. He did not immediately know the type of building or the extent of the damage.

Four people were injured, Alfaro said. Two people were taken in critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County and two others were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital -- one in critical and the other in serious but stable condition, Fire Media Affairs Chief Kevin MacGregor said.

All four injured were inside a car that apparently crashed into a building, MacGregor said. An EMS Plan 1, which automatically sends five ambulances to the scene, was called about 7:20 p.m., MacGregor said. Alfaro did not immediately know if citations were being issued.
